The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7, IdeaPad Slim 7, whatever you want to call it, is the type of ultrabook that Intel should be wary about. Luckily for it, the best version of it is very hard to find.
The Ryzen 4800U has proven to be one hell of a processor. While on price, this laptop is more of an ultraportable, it brings CPU performance you could expect in some mid-range gaming laptops. And in that ultrabook space, both Intel’s Ice Lake and Comet Lake laptops didn’t meet Ryzen.
It’s not perfect. The computer can get toasty, and the screen isn’t quite as good as those on its Intel counterparts. But beyond the performance, the battery life is truly incredible and the design
The problem is that this laptop, in the configuration we got it in, is effectively not for sale (lesser versions are). I’ve seen threads on Reddit and elsewhere with people hunting for this version. And if you’re in the market for something like this and find it, I would recommend from my testing that you snag it.
But this version is also the definitive version of a premium Ryzen 4000-series laptop. The AMD Ryzen 4800U is incredible, and 16GB of RAM is simply recommended these days. Hopefully this top-of-the-line configuration of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 becomes more available soon.

Дополнительный логотип, на этот раз с названием производителя, был размещен на шарнире, который также является звуковой панелью. То есть, динамики разместили прямо в шарнире. Это действительно классное решение.
На звуковой панели есть четыре динамика мощностью 2 Вт: два НЧ и два ВЧ. Громкости больше чем достаточно, при высоких уровнях громкости искажений или гудения не возникает. Звук хорошо сбалансированный, без сомнения благодаря настройке Dolby Atmos, и мне нравилось слушать музыку, работая на этом ноутбуке. Поскольку динамики содержатся в звуковой панели, нет риска заглушить звук, когда Yoga 9i стоит у вас на коленях.
На торце крышки также видим логотип, но теперь уже «Yoga Series». Отметим, что небольшое количество и тип портов не изменились. На левом краю устройства вы найдете только один разъем USB 3.2 Gen.2 Type-A, два порта USB 3.2 Gen.2 Type-C, поддерживающихй интерфейс Thunderbolt 4, один из которых используется для зарядки аккумулятора устройства, и комбинированный классический 3,5 мм miniJack для подключения наушников и микрофона. If you’ve been using a laptop with an IPS display, turning on a model with an OLED display is a sublime experience. The dynamic colors and inky blacks immediately impact you, and the quality difference is instantly apparent. That’s exactly how I felt turning on the Yoga 9i 14 Gen 7 with its 14-inch 16:10 WQHD+ (2880 x 1800) OLED touch and pen-enabled display. It’s a real beauty, with the only disappointment being that it runs at 60Hz rather than the 90Hz offered by the IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon‘s OLED panel.
My colorimeter agreed with my subjective opinion. The display was bright at 406 nits, well above our 300-nit threshold. Colors were wide at 95% of AdobeRGB, 100% of sRGB, and 100% of DCI-P3, and they were incredibly accurate at a DeltaE of 0.87 (less than 1.0 is considered excellent). And the contrast was the usual inky black at 28,380:1.
That compares well to other OLED displays, such as the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon which was almost as bright at 397 nits, had equally wide colors at 96% of AdobeRGB, 100% of sRGB, and 100% of DCI-P3 with an accuracy of 0.88, and the same high contrast at 27,590:1. These are better results than you’ll get from an IPS display, making for a creator’s dream panel.

The Yoga 9i 14 Gen 7 retains the unique rotating Soundbar in the hinge that houses two 2-watt tweeters with two 3-watt woofers firing out the side of the laptop. In this generation, it’s tuned by Bowers & Wilkins and promises enhanced audio quality. In my testing, there was tons of volume and more bass than you’ll find in a typical laptop.
At the same time, there was distortion at full volume that made mids and highs scratchy and unpleasant. Turning down the volume a little fixed that and gave a much more pleasant sound. Ultimately, though, I was a little disappointed with the sound quality given Lenovo’s attention to the feature, and I rank it a fair distance behind the best Windows laptop, the Dell XPS 15. The Yoga 9i 14 Gen 7’s will work fine for Netflix binging and such, but you’ll want a pair of headphones for music and other high-quality audio.

Noise, Heat, Connectivity, speakers, and others
Lenovo went with an advanced thermal module here, the most complex we’ve seen so far on this kind of portable laptop. They use two fans and two heatpipes, which is not uncommon, but the particularity is the fact that both heatpipes cover both the CPU and GPU, which is excellent for the 45W combined output of this implementation.
As a result, the components end up running at good temperatures at max load. Sure, the fans are a little choked out, and lifting up the laptop or placing it on a cooling pad has a big impact on those internal temperatures, but you can also run demanding loads with the laptop sitting on the desk here.
The hot air is pushed into the screen with this design, but even in FarCry 5 that pushes the system to 45W sustained, the panel never goes above mid to high 30s, as the plastic bezel soaks up most of the heat. In fact, the entire chassis rests cooler than on other portable designs with even less powerful specs.
As far as the noise goes, the fans spin at 40-41 dB at head-level on the Extreme Performance and somewhere between 37-41 dB on Intelligent Cooling, based on load.
On the other hand, with daily use, this Yoga runs completely silent on both the Battery Saver or the Intelligent Cooling modes, with the fans resting idly most of the time. I haven’t noticed any coil whine or electronic noises on this unit.

For connectivity, there’s the latest-gen WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 with a Realtek module on this unit. It performed well with our setup and the signal and performance remained strong at 30-feet, with obstacles in between. From what I’m seeing, some Yoga Slim 7 Pro models might ship with the superior Intel AX201 wifi chips.
Audio is handled by a set of stereo speakers that fire through grills on the underside. With the rounded shape of the D-Panel, the sound bounces off the table and the grills are not easily muffled when using the computer on the lap.
The audio isn’t much here, though, with only middling volumes at 72-73 dB at head level, and middling quality with little base. I feel that these speakers are a downgrade from those implemented on the previous Slim 7 series, and even from the upfiring speakers in the IdeaPad 5 lineups.
Finally, I should mention there’s an HD camera placed at the top of the screen, OK for occasional calls, but washed out and not much in terms of quality either.

При пиковой интенсивности звука спикеры не хрипят. Основная камера на 8 Мп делает неплохие снимки при естественном свете, распознаёт лица.
IPS-дисплей c разрешением Full HD имеет запас яркости для работы на улице, но в тени. Цветовой охват на уровне 70% sRGB позволяет редактировать фото. Глянцевое покрытие улучшает цветопередачу, но под солнечным светом превращается в зеркало. В режиме интеллектуального экрана воспринимает голос с соседней комнаты благодаря трём микрофонам. Детский режим обезопасит малыша от вредного контента. В режиме чтения новостей протянет до двух рабочих дней или 3-4 вечера.

Lenovo Tab P10 TB-X705L
Планшет Леново с дисплеем диагональю 10 дюймов, Full HD разрешением и двойным запасом яркости. Привлекает премиальным дизайном, объединяющим в себе алюминиевый каркас, тончайшие рамки по периметру дисплея и двойное стекло. Модель больше нацелена на бизнес, чем геймеров: с процессором Snapdragon 450 и 3 ГБ приложения не подтормаживают, но играть во всё подряд с комфортом не получится. Наслаждение музыкой, live-выступлениями, кино обеспечивает две пары динамиков.
Камеры пишут видео в 1080p (30 fps), но материал получается недостаточно резким, детализированным, с шумами. Аккумулятор на 7000 мАч готов к продолжительным поездкам, его заряда хватает на 13 часов присмотра кино оффлайн или двух рабочих дней полноценной эксплуатации. Заряжается около 4 часов. Работает на чистом Android 9 с парой фирменных приложений и новых функций.

Audio
Most thin laptops don’t produce the richest sound, and this Slim 7 isn’t an exception here. Don’t get me wrong — it’s totally serviceable. When I experienced middle school flashbacks listening to Good Charlotte’s “The Anthem.” I found that the sound was even and clear. It just lacked detail, and the drums didn’t stand out among the guitars.
I got some help from the Dolby Atmos Speaker System software, though. It has a handful of preset equalizers (or you can set you brown), but I found the “Detailed” setting added back the drums and even gave a bit more edge to the guitars. The bass, like most laptops, was lacking.

Design and build
This 2021 Yoga Slim 7 Pro is a bit narrower and taller than the 2020 Slim 7, but they’re about the same weight at roughly 1.4 kilos, and overall the design lines are similar between the two. The change is mostly because this Slim 7 Pro series gets a taller 16:10 display and needed the extra space inside for a more complex thermal design.
What we have here is the silver version of the Slim 7 Pro, and there’s also a darker-grey model available in some regions, called Slate Grey. This one does a better job at hiding smudges, but also looks a bit more boring and ordinary.
The aesthetics are standard for a recent Yoga/IdeaPad laptop, with clean pieces of metal and fairly minimal Lenovo/Yoga branding. Make sure to peel all those stickers from the arm-rest, though.
The build quality is spectacular here, with one of the sturdiest keyboard-decks in the segment and almost no flex in the lid either. I also haven’t noticed any creaky noises when using this laptop or picking it up from a corner.
Thick pieces of aluminum are used for the entire construction, with this sort of grainier rougher finishing that offers excellent grip and should resist scratches well, especially on this color. Still, to me, this kind of finishing doesn’t feel as premium as the smoother metals available on something like a MacBook Pro or even a ZenBook 14X or an Envy 14, but it should age better over time.
Lenovo implemented a sturdy hinge as well, the kind the keeps the screen in place as set-up and also allows one-handed adjustments, plus the ability to push back the display flat to 180 degrees.
Speaking of the display, that’s a 16:10 panel now with averagely sized bezels all around and a layer of protective glass. There’s an HD camera at the top, without IR or without a shutter on this variant. There is an optional IR+ Shutter camera available in some regions, but no finger-sensor in the power button, unlike on the previous Slim 7.
Furthermore, there was no longer enough space to have up-firing speakers next to the keyboard on this model, as a consequence of adopting this 16:10 format that lead to a slightly narrower chassis. Instead, the speakers are now firing from the bottom of the laptop.
The ergonomics are otherwise OK, but leave some to be desired. The rubber feet on the bottom are not very grippy and the laptop’s front lip is sharp and aggressive on the wrists, even if its effect is somewhat alleviated by this design’s slim profile.
The IO isn’t ideal, either, and overall a step-back from the previous Slim 7 series, despite this being a larger and thicker laptop. You’re only getting 2x USB-C ports here, with data, video, and charging, one USB-A, and 3.5 mm audio jack. This means you’ll need adapters for HDMI or a card-reader, etc.
I’ll also mention that the thermal design draws in fresh air from the bottom and pushes it out through vents placed under the hinge and screen. Normally, I’m not a fan of this sort of design, but it’s not that much of an issue here, as the internal cooling module does a good job at keeping everything within reasonable temperatures, and the plastic hinge cover soaks up most of the heat. We’ll touch on this further down.
All in all, this Yoga Slim 7 Pro design feels robust and built to last, but lacks some of the ergonomics and specifics that made me appreciate the Slim 7 model last year. The IO, biometrics, and speakers have been downgraded, and these might drive potential buyers away now when the competition also offers competent thin-and-light 14-inch designs with similar specs and features.
Upgradeability

There are seven screws on the bottom of the Yoga Slim 7. You’ll need a Torx T5 screwdriver to remove them. The three along the hinge came out easily, but the four closer to the palmrest were in tight and required a bit of patience.
Once those are out, you’ll need a tool to pry carefully along the edges to get the bottom of the chassis off.
When you get inside, you’ll see that the battery and SSD are immediately accessible. The RAM, however, is soldered to the board. The SSD is wrapped in foil, but you can still remove it by simply removing the screw. If you replace the drive, you can slide the little foil jacket back on.
