What the Yoga 6 loses in portability, it makes up for with its decently spaced keyboard. Each press of the keys felt pleasantly clicky and offered enough feedback to satisfy me.

I hit 51 words per minute on the 10fastfingers.com typing test, which is just a couple below my 53-wpm average. The keys offer a nice bump every time I type on them, but I’m still getting used to the smaller deck since I usually use a 14-inch laptop.

I drew a little portrait of my kitty cat Moonlight with the Yoga 6’s touchscreen display, and it felt really smooth and responsive.

The 2.5 x 4.1-inch touchpad is soft to the touch, but the clicks are a bit shallow. It was responsive with Windows 10 gestures like two-finger scrolling and three-finger tab switching.

Conclusion: Should you buy the Lenovo Yoga 6?

The Lenovo Yoga 6 is a laptop I like almost every way. The fabric-covered design is definitely one of my favorite aspect of it as it makes this a truly unique device compared to just about anything else. You also get strong performance courtesy of AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series processors, and the versatility of a convertible form factor like this is a big plus, too.

The Lenovo Yoga 6 competes very closely with the HP Pavilion Aero, both in terms of price and specs. We found the HP Pavilion Aero to be one of the very best laptops you can get for this price, but the Yoga 6 has some notable advantages. For starters, it’s a convertible, and for me, that would be enough reason to choose it over the Pavilion Aero. The fabric-covered design is also very welcome, but it’s ultimately up to you if you like that look. In the long-term, it won’t impact usability that much.

On the other hand, it’s worse on a few technical levels. The display isn’t as bright, and it can be hard to see outdoors, plus HP is using a taller screen that’s great if you want to get work done. It also has some limitations in terms of ports, specifically missing HDMI. And the webcam, despite appearing to be fairly big, has pretty bad quality even for a 720p camera.

If you want a convertible laptop in this price range, the Lenovo Yoga 6 is a good choice, you just have to make sure that’s what you want. It’s fast, it looks good, and it’s versatile. But if a clamshell laptop fits your needs, then you’ll get a better experience with the Pavilion Aero. Lenovo Yoga 6

The Lenovo Yoga 6 is a stylish convertible with great performance courtesy of AMD Ryzen 5000 processors. This model includes a Ryzen 7, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

Performance: AMD Ryzen 5000 processors are great

The Lenovo Yoga 6 comes with AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series processors, and my review unit specifically has a Ryzen 7 5700U. This may be a 15W processor, but with eight cores and 16 threads, it’s no joke. This was my first experience with AMD’s 5000 U-series processors, but they come with the same core and thread count as the H-series versions, which is fantastic. If you compare that to Intel’s Tiger Lake U-series processors, those max out with four cores and eight threads, so it’s no surprise that more and more AMD Ryzen laptops are starting to show up.

With a setup like that, of course day-to-day performance isn’t a problem in the slightest. This is a fast laptop for most tasks, as you’d expect. The 16GB of RAM also make for a great multitasking experience, though you’ll still be ok with the 8GB version.

The Yoga 6 launched with Windows 10 originally, but my review unit already came with Windows 11. You may have heard of the performance issues affecting AMD processors on Windows 11, and my unit didn’t come the AMD chipset driver required to fix them, so I had to run all of the benchmarks again after installing that update. Here’s how the Yoga 6 stacks up against some of its competitors:

AMD makes a couple of different tiers of its Ryzen processors, and you can see how the HP Pavilion Aero is faster than the Lenovo Yoga 6 because of that enhanced processor. As for Intel, it’s obvious that the additional cores in AMD’s processors give it an advantage in tasks that can use those cores. On the other hand, Intel has a clear edge in graphics horsepower and single-core performance.

As for battery life, the matter of AMD’s chipset driver comes into question again. I used the Yoga 6 for almost a full week before updating the driver, and I usually got between 8 hours and 15 minutes to 9 hours on a charge. After updating the driver to improve performance, however, I used it for a few more days and it was somewhere between 7 hours and 15 minutes and 7 hours and 40 minutes. That’s based on screen-on time, and my usage mostly consists of browsing the web with a few tabs open (usually no more than 5 or 6 tabs at a given time), writing in WordPress, and occasionally watching videos or movies. I found this to be very respectable battery life, though I was surprised at how big the decline was with the new chipset driver.

Lenovo Yoga 6 design

Lenovo has a bold new approach to the laptop chassis, outfitting the Yoga 6 with an abyss blue fabric cover that looks and feels like a pair of denim jeans. Embedded in the top corner of the fabric is the “YOGA” logo, while the opposite bottom corner has the “Lenovo” emblem in a glossy chrome.

The abyss blue continues into the interior portion of the laptop, with a smooth, blue deck and a decent sized keyboard that has top-firing speakers on either side. The side bezels surrounding the screen are small, while the top is just large enough to support the webcam, but that bottom bezel is a chunker.

Since it’s a 2-in-1 laptop, you can fold the lid 90, 180 and 360 degrees, allowing you to put it in a tent or tablet mode, which is nice for folks that either just want to look at the display or want to do a bit of sketching.

At 12.1 x 8.1 x 0.7 inches and 3 pounds, the Yoga 6 is incredibly thin and light. However, the HP Pavilion Aero 13 (11.7 x 8.2 x 0.67 inches, 2.2 pounds), Asus Zenbook 13 (UX325) OLED (12 x 8 x 0.55, 2.5 pounds), and Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 (12.1 x 8.8 x 0.6 inches, 2.8 pounds) were all thinner and lighter than the Yoga.

Introduction

As part of a recent promotion, Lenovo was selling a Lenovo Yoga 6 (13″) 2-in-1 laptop for $799.99. This was considerably lower than the regular price of $1099.99, so I decided to buy one for my wife. This will be a brief Lenovo Yoga 6 13ALC6 R7 Laptop Review.

Lenovo Yoga 6 13ALC6 R7

This laptop weighs 2.91lbs (1.32kg) and it has a 13.3″ 1920×1080 IPS touchscreen. It has a 4 cell 60Wh battery that Lenovo claims is good for 18 hours of battery life. There is a 720p webcam with a privacy shutter.

For wireless connectivity, there is a Realtek RTL8852AE 802.11ax 2×2 (WiFi 6) and a BT 5.0 module. There are two USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports and a 3.5mm combo headphone microphone jack. You also get a touch fingerprint reader.

Blue Fabric On Top of Case

The case is aluminum on the top and ABS plastic on the bottom, both in Abyss Blue. The top is actually covered in a denim-like blue fabric that might be controversial. I think it looks nice and it will keep the top from being covered in fingerprints. Some professional reviewers worry excessively that it will quickly get dirty and be impossible to clean. I would say that depends on how you treat the machine.

One of the biggest changes to this generation’s Yoga 6 is a move to a taller 16:10 display. This is the trend for most laptops these days, and it’s a welcome change. You get more screen space, thinner bezels, and a boosted resolution to keep up.

There’s just one touch display option available for the Yoga 6 (Gen 7), but it is quite good for this price point. It has a 1920×1200 (FHD+) resolution, IPS panel, TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification, and Dolby Vision for HDR in supporting content. Contrast is excellent, with deep color throughout. Inking is supported, though the laptop doesn’t come with an active pen.

I tested the display’s color reproduction and brightness with a SpyderX Pro colorimeter. It hit 100% sRGB, 82% AdobeRGB, and 85% DCI-P3 color, all excellent results. The brightness meter will actually completely turn off the display, with just 3.9 nits one step up. You’ll easily be able to use the laptop in a dark room. It topped out at 327 nits. You might have some issues with glare from the glossy screen finish, but only in particularly bright areas. Overall, the display should satisfy as long as you don’t mind the FHD+ resolution cap.

Оборудование ноутбука

В этой модели применяется ЦП Intel 11-й генерации – Core i5-1135G7. В топовой комплектации Lenovo приняла решение применять в ноутбуке более популярный Core i7-1165G7. Дискретная видеокарта в ноутбуке отсутствует. Количество ОЗУ – 8 Гб.

Для выполнения тестов и бенчмарков был выставлен режим экстремальной производительности посредством программы Lenovo Vantage. Всем обладателям данного устройства рекомендовано изучить ее функции, так как именно она отвечает за производительность, нагрев, уровень шума при эксплуатации.

Производительность нескольких ядер в процессоре немного меньше, чем у непосредственного конкурента – Ryzen 5 4500U. Однако эта модель смогла обойти собственного предшественника приблизительно на 25 процентов.

Оценки интегрированной видеокарты Iris Xe в 3DMark были довольно высокими. Параметры приблизительно на 25 процентов лучше, чем у Radeon RX Vega 7, и на 10 процентов лучше, чем у RX Vega 8. Производительность, если судить по бенчмаркам, находится на одном уровне с Nvidia MX350. Различия с предыдущей Iris Plus G7 достаточно существенные.

A Closer Look at the Screen

I mentioned the display, but a closer look is needed. It measures 13.3 inches diagonally, with a full HD (1,920-by-1,080-pixel) native resolution. That’s average these days, but the quality is good. This is a touch panel, a given since this is a convertible laptop, so it has a glossy finish instead of matte.

This usually makes colors pop a bit more than the alternative matte finish, but there are also more reflections off glass, so mind your lighting setup. The panel is rated at 300 nits, which isn’t incredibly bright, but in my use it was bright enough to help cut down glare. The colors and sharpness are solid as well.

The speakers are above average, particularly in terms of volume. This little system gets quite loud, which I first noticed by accidentally blaring sound at maximum volume, but it made me take notice. The Dolby Atmos speakers mostly maintain quality at higher volumes, but deeper tones start to sound like they’re buzzing rather than sounding rich. On the whole, though, audio is a high note.

The webcam on the Yoga 6, on the other hand, is a so-so 720p camera. The picture quality is just okay, with the usual sort of fuzziness and difficulty with strong background lighting that you’ve likely come to expect with average laptop webcams. It’s not bad, just disappointingly standard fare.

As far as connectivity, the left flank holds a USB-C port with power delivery (the main charging port), a USB 3.2 Type-A port, and a headphone jack. On the right, you’ll find another USB-C port (with DisplayPort support) and another USB 3.2 port.

Разрешение и тип экрана. Чтобы получить предельно реалистичное и живописное изображение, следует приобретать устройства, имеющие разрешение экрана Класс матрицы MVA или IPS.
Жесткий диск. Наиболее надежны и тихи в работе ноутбуки-трансформеры оснащенные твердотельными дисками (SSD).
ОЗУ (оперативная память). Чтобы иметь возможность справляться с задачами разного типа, специалисты рекомендуют остановить свой выбор на моделях с ОЗУ от 8 до 16 ГБ.
Процессор. Оптимальным вариантом по производительности и стоимости считаются процессоры Intel Core 6 и 7 поколения.
Батарея. Чем больше она способна удерживать заряд, тем длительнее время независимой работы ноутбука. Самым идеальным вариантом будет приобрести устройство с аккумулятором способным работать 8-10 часов без необходимости в подзарядке.

Также немаловажным моментом будет обратить внимание на вес и размеры ноутбука-трансформера. Обусловлено это тем, что довольно часто устройства такого типа берут с собой для работы в дороге

An Affordable, Portable Convertible

The 13-inch Yoga 6 grew on us from our initial impressions, proving itself a solid all-around convertible. The price is very fair for the components, and the build quality doesn’t leave much room for complaint. The base model would be a great deal too, if you’re okay with a slightly lower amount of power.

The display and webcam don’t distinguish themselves, but hitting average in some areas is fine at this price point. If you’re shopping for a no-fuss, sub-$1,000 ultraportable, and you like the fabric lid, you could do much worse than the Yoga 6.

Design: The Lenovo Yoga 6 looks very unique

I have to be honest here: I think I have reviewed one too many all-metal silver laptops. I haven’t been reviewing laptops for that long, but I’m incredibly tired of the silver look in laptops, and these days, I love seeing the kinds of different colors and materials companies dare to use. HP used faux leather in the Elite Folio, for example, and that’s awesome. The Lenovo Yoga 6 has its own unique material, and the lid is covered in fabric.

This is frankly fantastic to see and it gives the Yoga 6 so much more character when you look at it. Even elements that are always there like the Lenovo and Yoga branding stick out that much more. They feel like premium branding when they’re on top of fabric like this. I had a similar feeling with the OPPO Find X2 Pro last year, and yes, that’s a phone, but it goes to show that combining materials and design elements like this works really well. This material also does wonders for carrying the laptop in your hand, as it feels much more comfortable to hold fabric compared to a cold hard surface.

The rest of the laptop uses a plastic shell, and it’s been a while since I’ve used a plastic laptop, but it didn’t really bother me at all. I didn’t think about it until I looked up the spec sheet for the laptop. That’s not to say it doesn’t feel like plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap either. I like the Abyss Blue color Lenovo used here, it’s not too boring but it’s not flashy. I think it would be cool to see this laptop in even more colors, though.

Being a 13-inch laptop, the Lenovo Yoga 6 is definitely portable, weighing under 3lbs and measuring between 17mm and 18.2mm in thickness. It’s not incredibly thin or light and you can find lighter devices if you want to, but it’s definitely portable enough. I tend to prefer laptops with larger screens, but this size does make a bit more sense for a convertible, as it’s easier to lift it up and rotate the screen than with my old 15-inch laptop.

The Lenovo Yoga 6 has a decent supply of ports, but there are some unfortunate limitations. You get two USB Type-C ports, but only one of them supports charging, so it’s not always convenient to have the laptop in a position where you can easily connect the charger. It also doesn’t support Thunderbolt, but that’s just because it’s an AMD laptop. You also get two USB Type-A ports.

However, there’s no HDMI, and that meant I had to buy a USB-C adapter to keep using my monitor. I would have preferred to have HDMI over one of the USB Type-A ports, personally. Finally, there’s the headphone jack for those that need it.

Максимальная яркость экрана 400 нит, чего достаточно для использования дома, но не улицы. Мешает и то, что нет антибликового покрытия, солнечный свет отражается. У более дешёвого iPad 10.2 (2021) таких проблем нет, а яркость выше – 500 нит.

Производительность ноутбука Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 260

В зависимости от конфигурации лэптопа используется один из следующих микропроцессоров:

Графика

Lenovo Yoga 6 оснащен простым интегрированным чипом AMD Radeon, но он хорошо показывает себя в некоторых играх.

В тесте Сида Мейера Civilization VI: Gathering Storm (Medium, 1080p) Yoga 6 в среднем показывал 46 кадров в секунду, что превышает пороговое значение в 30 кадров в секунду. В поисках удачной покупки? Trekstor Primebook C11 — это не только лидер по соотношению цены и качества, у него есть преимущество и по итоговой оценке. Как и Yoga 330, он отлично подходит для поездок, но не имеет недостатков дисплея. Разрешение 1920х1080 пикселей на 11,6-дюймовом экране выглядит превосходно. Продолжительность времени автономной работы более 9 часов (в имитируемом «офисном» режиме) тоже заслуживает внимания. На некоторые компромиссы здесь придется пойти в области производительности, но при стоимости приблизительно в 250 евро на это можно попросту не обращать внимания.

Lenovo Yoga 6 audio

The Lenovo Yoga 6’s top-firing speakers aren’t very loud or well-balanced.

The opening guitar in Hazen’s “This House” was bright and full, but the following vocals weren’t as crisp as they could’ve been. Also, the drums were a little muddy when combined with the guitar, and since there’s not a lot of bass, the percussion sounds more treble-heavy. The speakers just sound too shallow.

There’s Dolby Atmos included with the Yoga 6, but no matter how much tweaking I did in the Music settings (which let you choose between detailed, balanced or warm), something always sounded a little off. There’s also Movie, Game and Voice settings, too.

Удивил нас и сенсорный дисплей, но неприятно: для работы на открытом воздухе он не подходит и производит плохое впечатление. При этом компания Lenovo уже давно на примере других моделей доказала, что дисплеи в ее ноутбуках могут быть замечательными. К сожалению, они не имеют функции сенсорного ввода и поэтому данные устройства не могут быть использованы в качестве планшетов. Подводя итоги, мы можем сказать, что Yoga 330 как ноутбук формата «2 в 1» заслуживает лишь оценки «хорошо».

Производительность трансформера тоже более чем хороша, хотя и не высочайшего класса. Компания Lenovo встраивает сюда все еще довольно актуальный процессор Intel Pentium N5000 (1,1 ГГц, в Turbo-режиме до 2,7 ГГц), который предназначен прежде всего для недорогих ноутбуков. Для офисных приложений и веб-серфинга производительности всегда будет достаточно, но по-настоящему рабочей лошадкой это устройство не станет.

Особенно выделяющиеся качества протестированного нами Ноутбук Lenovo Yoga 720-13IKB (81C3008RGE) можно найти в таких отдельных зачетных дисциплинах, как «Мобильность» и «Эргономичность» — здесь аппарат показался нам наиболее убедительным. Вот что еще позитивно: в ходе проверки нами не было выявлено ни одного серьезного недостатка — в каждой из категорий характеристики устройства оказались по меньшей мере на среднем уровне и тем самым ему удалось завоевать неплохое место в нашем соответствующем рейтинге.
